About us

MEDHOST, Inc. is the provider of leading emergency department solutions that clinicians prefer and actually use.  Its simple to use Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) was built to make the ED a safe and efficient environment, providing hospitals with reduced wait times, higher patient satisfaction scores, fewer medical errors and more revenue.  Knowing that the ED is an extremely hectic environment and is often the front door to America’s healthcare system, MEDHOST created a powerful technology that positively impacts the lives of more than 5 million individuals each year.

MEDHOST was formed in 1997 to provide the healthcare industry with management applications that are easy to learn, use and implement.  Until that time, EDIS technologies were a rarity, as ED doctors and nurses generally recorded charges and important information by hand, spending more time on paperwork than with patients.

MEDHOST’s EDIS is intuitive and as easy to use as an ATM.  Designed by clinicians to eliminate the features that can impede care and put patients at risk, MEDHOST is free of complicated drop-down menus, multiple screens, confusing dialogue boxes, multiple key strokes and other time-consuming processes.  Because minutes, even seconds, can mean the difference between saving lives in the ED, MEDHOST knew that creating a technology designed to increase clinician and patient interaction would revolutionize the delivery of emergency care. 

MEDHOST has continued to evolve its product suite, enhancing existing applications and adding new modules and functions based on Customer needs.  Some of these advances include:

MEDHOST partners with industry leaders, such as The Sullivan Group, to deliver integrated risk management solutions that create an extremely safe patient environment, as well as help hospitals reduce the chance of malpractice claims.  In addition, First DataBank’s comprehensive drug database is integrated into MEDHOST’s EDIS, minimizing the opportunity for adverse drug events.

From touch screen navigation, customizable screens, automated notifications, risk alerts, visual cues, and an exclusive ToolKit application that allows for real-time changes to the software to meet the Customers’ ever-changing process needs, MEDHOST is engineered to turn the ED into a productive environment conducive to providing superior levels of patient care.  MEDHOST also easily integrates with leading healthcare information systems, including MEDITECH, Cerner, Siemens and McKesson.

MEDHOST’s Customer-driven approach has remained constant since the company’s founding; steadfastly believing that Customer satisfaction is the most important attribute to its success.  This philosophy led MEDHOST to a “#1 Best in KLAS” ranking for Emergency Department Vendors in 2004 and 2005, as detailed in the “Top 20 Year End Best in KLAS” report (published Dec. 15, 2004 and 2005), which measures performance based on Customer evaluations of vendor performance.  In addition to its EDIS, MEDHOST provides experienced clinicians to assist Customers with extensive consulting, support and training services.
