MEDHOST Redefines “Big” in 2011
As we enter the middle of 2011, I find myself reflecting on the year thus far, and it’s an understatement to say that 2011 has been (and will continue to be) a big year for MEDHOST.
I can confidently state that MEDHOST has never seen a year quite like 2011. It’s an exciting time that began in 2010 as our Customer base and win ratio climbed skyward and our acquisition by
HealthTech Holdings solidified further our status as a leader in the HIS market. We believe that our success is a direct reflection of the clinical, operational and financial results our solutions deliver to the hundreds of hospitals we serve.
As evidence of the value providers see in MEDHOST, we recently announced a significant new relationship with Health Management Associates (HMA), one of the nation’s premier operators of acute care hospitals. The expert resources and financial strength of HealthTech Holdings helped position MEDHOST to earn the HMA relationship through which we will deploy our EDIS, ED Pass and Care Clock solutions into 58 of HMA’s hospitals.
In the
news release, HMA’s CIO, Ken Chatfield, called MEDHOST “the best system for the job” and said HMA is eager to have MEDHOST helping HMA further its mission of enabling America’s best local healthcare.
While our ED business grows aggressively, MEDHOST is simultaneously expanding beyond the ED. Earlier this year, we
announced the success Customers are having with our OpCenter executive decision support solution. That news has spread throughout the industry and executives needing to make better –informed decisions to manage inpatient flow are signing up. With hospitals being asked to do more with fewer resources the need for optimization is more apparent than ever.
In addition, our latest offering, the house-wide process management system we call MEDHOST HD, was a
huge hit at HIMSS. Customers using the solution as part of our early-adopter program report that they have already seen benefits and incorporated HD into their workflow. From CNO to Secretary, everyone is using the tool to better understand how hospital-wide patient flow impacts their department.
We’re eager to launch MEDHOST HD later this year so we can help hospitals have a clearer picture of hospital-wide patient flow bottlenecks and provide visibility into their primary challenges to solve costly operational issues.
Last but not least are all of the exciting changes happening within MEDHOST. All of our success and the high demand for our solutions mean that the company itself is growing. We’ve hired more than 40 very talented and passionate individuals in the last six months, which brings our total headcount to more than 140 Associates. We plan to continue to grow quickly, which means we need more space! In July, MEDHOST will move its headquarters a few miles north to Plano, Texas. We will occupy 24,000 square feet, up from about 16,000 square feet, to allow for our new Associates and to accommodate our Customers with bigger Customer-training centers. The building was awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification at the Gold level by the U.S. Green Building Council. The features of the new building align with our goals to maximize efficiencies wherever possible.
Ten years ago, fewer than 40 percent of patients admitted to the hospital did so through the ED. That number has risen to about 60 percent, truly making the ED the front door of the hospital. Increased ED volumes, coupled with Meaningful Use initiatives, are fueling the demand for ED systems, and the proven results of our solutions, our dedication to our Customers, and our Customer’s loyalty, is what’s making MEDHOST the vendor of choice.
We now serve more than 300 facilities, including large IDNs, rural and suburban hospitals, and several academic facilities across the U.S., and we expect that number to increase as hospitals continue to demand powerful yet easy-to-use solutions that result in improved care and throughput. We’re half-way through 2011, and we’re excited about all the changes and are proud to grow our organization to deliver the caliber of support and services that you’ve come to expect from MEDHOST.
