Eight Facilities Choose MEDHOST EDIS During First Quarter

U.S., international hospitals attracted by MEDHOST’s usability, which drives clinician adoption and enables hospitals to gain the maximum benefit from their investment.

ADDISON, Texas – May 19, 2009 – MEDHOST, provider of the leading Emergency Department Information System (EDIS), today announced that eight facilities in the U.S. and Bermuda selected its EDIS during the first quarter of 2009.  MEDHOST continues to experience strong demand for its EDIS because the easy to use system makes hospitals more efficient by reducing medical errors, increasing patient throughput, producing higher patient satisfaction scores and maximizing revenue.

All ED’s face many challenges which can be improved by technology but only if embraced by caregivers.  Usability is the common denominator for success which MEDHOST makes possible in large part by its intuitive and innovative user interface and workflow driven design.

“Usability drives compliance, which in turn enables hospitals to significantly increase revenue from their EDs with MEDHOST, and that’s how our EDIS often pays for itself in 12 months or less,” said Craig Herrod, president and CEO of MEDHOST.  “MEDHOST has always focused on creating the best user experience possible.  We are committed to providing hospitals with highly flexible solutions that easily adapt to the frequent and often unexpected changes that occur within the healthcare industry.”

The following facilities became new MEDHOST Customers during the first quarter of 2009:
• Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyo.
• Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Fla.
• Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie Center, Iowa
• King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, Bermuda
• Loris Community Hospital, Loris Healthcare System in Loris, S.C.
• Methodist Emergency Care Center in Houston, Texas
• Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute, Bermuda
• Seacoast Medical Center, Loris Healthcare System in Little River, S.C.

“Demand remains strong for our EDIS because like MEDHOST, our Customers understand that there’s no such thing as a meaningful EHR if no one uses it,” Herrod said.  “MEDHOST is dedicated to advancing healthcare IT and setting technology and usability standards that will improve patient care and safety.  We are excited to kick off 2009 so strongly and welcome these eight facilities to the MEDHOST Customer family.”

MEDHOST currently serves more than 170 facilities, including Catholic Healthcare West in California, Catholic Health System in New York, Tenet Healthcare Corporation and several academic facilities across the U.S.  MEDHOST is the preferred EDIS provider of VHA Inc., a national cooperative serving more than 2,400 not for profit healthcare organizations.  MEDHOST easily integrates with leading hospital information systems, including MEDITECH, Cerner, Siemens and McKesson.
