MEDHOST announces EDIS Version 4.2
Customer insight drives version 4.2 of EDIS, putting more tools at the physician’s fingertips
ADDISON, Texas – Oct. 27, 2008 – MEDHOST today released version 4.2 of its Emergency Department Information System (EDIS), the latest re-invention of its easy to use system which has new features designed to improve patient safety and regulatory compliance while streamlining and improving clinical workflow.
The wild popularity of today’s touch enabled mobile devices further confirms that touch screen user interfaces are far more than a fad. MEDHOST’s touch screen technology has led the market for years and now it’s taking touch innovations to the next level with version 4.2 of its EDIS. MEDHOST’s streamlined touch enabled physician workflows and the “my patients” work lists just made caring for patients in the ED a lot easier.
“I didn’t think MEDHOST could possibly make its EDIS easier to use, but they did. After a brief overview of the new features even new physicians begin quickly, accurately and completely documenting with MEDHOST,” said Dr. David Arai, chairman of the emergency department at Centennial Medical Center in Frisco, Texas. “MEDHOST frees up our physicians so they can focus all their attention on patients.”
Additional features now available in version 4.2 that are designed to improve patient safety, regulatory compliance and workflow include:
- Weight based dosing for medication orders
- Automatic and unobtrusive reminders about incomplete tasks at disposition
- Further integration with First DataBank to provide a deeper level of prescription data
- Interactive and automated online Medication Reconciliation Form that lists all medications on one form and gives the ability to make modifications to the data
- Enhanced fax support that enables simple prescription faxing to local pharmacies
Streamlined and Improved Workflow
- Disposition Pathway redesign for faster disposition
- Built in support for “Present on Admission” criteria
- Interactive My Patients List so all patient tasks can be completed from one list
“End user feedback is reflected in every improvement we made to version 4.2 of our EDIS, literally everything from creating new workflows to providing deeper levels of prescription data all from within our system. Our commitment to usability is a major reason for MEDHOST’s growth and the ongoing success of our Customers,” said Craig Herrod, president and CEO of MEDHOST. “The goal of version 4.2 was to further enhance the system’s usability for physicians and I am confident we achieved that. No other system even approaches the look, feel and intuitive functionality offered by MEDHOST.”
MEDHOST currently serves more than 160 facilities, including the Baylor Healthcare System in Texas, Catholic Healthcare West in California, Catholic Health System in New York and Tenet Healthcare Corporation.
