MEDHOST Adopts EHR Developer Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct emphasizes support of safe healthcare delivery, innovation and integrity in solution development

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Feb. 13, 2014 – MEDHOST, Inc., provider of market-leading enterprise, departmental and healthcare engagement solutions, today announced that it has officially adopted the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Developer Code of Conduct. Developed by the EHR Association, the Code of Conduct fosters transparent industry principles that reflect a continued dedication to support safe healthcare delivery, recognize the value and impact that EHRs have for patients and families, foster continued innovation and operate with high integrity in the market.

“As a leading developer of EHR and integrated solutions, MEDHOST is committed to enhancing processes and making strategic technology investments to ensure we give healthcare enterprises the best quality solutions and services possible. This is why we are proud to say that we have incorporated the EHR Developer Code of Conduct’s principles into our solution development processes,” said Craig Herrod, president of MEDHOST. “The EHR Developer Code of Conduct is a great step toward ensuring that all EHRs industry-wide support patient care and safety best practices to ultimately improve clinical outcomes.”

Innovation Technology Solutions-

As part of its pledge to provide healthcare organizations with innovative technology solutions, MEDHOST has included the principles outlined in the EHR Developer Code of Conduct in its product strategy and development, as well as its business practices. For example, the Code of Conduct asks that product design, development and deployment support patient safety. MEDHOST has always focused on patient safety in its product development. Also, the company has invested heavily in automation to eliminate the opportunity for human errors. Additionally, MEDHOST has and will continue to follow all Code of Conduct principles. However, it includes interoperability and data portability, clinical and billing documentation, privacy and security, and patient engagement.

“The Code of Conduct aligns with many other industry initiatives, especially Meaningful Use. It further supports the significance of adhering to these best practices. In addition to adopting the Code of Conduct, MEDHOST has been on the leading edge of Meaningful Use, receiving certification very early on for several solutions. We’re especially proud to be one of the first vendors to obtain complete inpatient certification of our fully integrated enterprise EHR. Everything points back to improving patient care and safety, and that’s something that we’ve long stood by,” added Herrod.
