Remotely hosted, ICD-10 ready enterprise EHR from MEDHOST will unite system’s campuses with free-flowing data
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Sept. 24, 2014 – MEDHOST, Inc. has joined North Philadelphia Health System as a key partner in its long-term financial plan to transition from paper-based processes to a hosted inpatient electronic health record (EHR).
MEDHOST’s inpatient EHR, which is Meaningful Use Stage 2 certified by ONC-ACB, includes ICD-10 readiness and a robust suite of integrated clinical and financial solutions that will support North Philadelphia Health System’s financial and operational goals. The health system has two facilities – St. Joseph’s Hospital, a 197-bed acute care hospital, and Girard Medical Center, a 125-bed behavioral center that also provides outpatient drug and alcohol services.
“MEDHOST’s enterprise EHR will strengthen North Philadelphia Health System’s financial wellbeing and streamline care and operations for many years to come,” said George Walmsley, CEO of North Philadelphia Health System. “With MEDHOST as our technology partner, we’re not only raising the bar for what patients should expect, but we’re also bringing the future of healthcare to our patients today.”
As part of the project, North Philadelphia Health System will work with MEDHOST to revitalize revenue cycle management operations . Especially, to improve cash flow and financial performance, streamline workflow, reduce denied claims, and more.
“Our billing is incredibly intricate because of our diverse payer mix. However, MEDHOST is bringing simplicity to that complexity,” said Walmsley. “We want data flowing freely enterprise-wide, especially between our two facilities, and our billing needs to be impeccable. We’re relying on MEDHOST to make all of this a reality.”
In yet another cutting-edge move, North Philadelphia Health System opted to have MEDHOST remotely host and manage the entire solution. By shifting applications and IT infrastructure to MEDHOST Direct, the company’s secure, HIPAA-compliant IT environment, North Philadelphia Health System will enjoy lower upfront costs, and its IT staff will be freed from routine, time-consuming work like software updates and maintenance. Fewer day-to-day headaches for North Philadelphia Health System’s IT staff mean more focus on patient service and clinician support.
“If you want to deliver the best patient care, you need the best healthcare IT partner,” said Craig Herrod, president of MEDHOST. “North Philadelphia Health System has bold leaders with even bolder plans for revolutionizing the care provided to their population. MEDHOST is pleased to partner with North Philadelphia Health System. Especially, as it heightens the health of its community and its own bottom line.”
